Argentine Driver Franco Colapinto Could Race in F1 Exhibition in Buenos Aires

Argentine driver Franco Colapinto could race in Argentina in the coming weeks after negotiations began to organize a Formula 1 exhibition in Buenos Aires with his Alpine team, following his outstanding weekend at the Chinese Grand Prix where he scored his first point in the category. The initiative was confirmed by the city's Secretary of Sports, Fabián Turnes, who stated, according to the Argentine News Agency, that talks are ongoing with the team to arrange a visit to the country: 'Possibly next month Alpine will come to Argentina. We are finalizing it with Alpine and with Franco's team. They are all processes of trying to reach that Formula 1'. The possible visit of the 22-year-old driver comes at a particular time in the international calendar, as races in the Middle East were suspended due to armed conflicts, leaving a window in the category's schedule for April that could facilitate the Argentine's trip. According to reports, the event would be a race or exhibition demonstration at the end of April at the historic Oscar y Juan Gálvez circuit in Buenos Aires, where Colapinto would drive the French team's A526 car. The circuit is currently undergoing renovation work for the return of MotoGP, scheduled for 2027. The event would also aim to put Buenos Aires back on the Formula 1 radar, a category that has not held a Grand Prix in the country since April 12, 1998, when German Michael Schumacher took the victory in his Ferrari.
